The tenth annual Traverse City Film Festival will be held July 29-August 3, 2014. The festival brings in filmmakers from all around the world to Northern Michigan and has quickly become one of the largest film festivals in the Midwest. 2011 generated more than 128,000 admissions. Each year, the festival also presents classic movies free of charge on a giant, inflatable outdoor screen overlooking Grand Traverse Bay in the Open Space Park at dusk. This year the event has added film screenings ON the bay, with films shown on a boat in Grand Traverse Bay.

Don’t miss the 5th Annual Short’s Fest held at their production facility in Elk Rapids, MI during the Harbor Days celebration. They will have 20 fearlessly creative beers on tap at two separate stations, soft pretzels, and their hot dog stand will be cranking out the dogs! There will also be local food vendors on hand to accompany your beer of choice. Celebration starts at 4:00pm with curfew at 10:00pm to give everyone time to watch the fireworks.

Featuring live music from Deer Tick, tickets are only $8 and can be purchased in advance at www.shortsbrewing.com/shortsfest2014 or at the gate the day of the festival.

Join the Northern Leelanau County Wine Loop for the Northport Wine Festival, the original Leelanau Wine Festival! The Northport Wine Festival and is a fundraiser for the Northport-Omena Chamber of Commerce and several area non-profits. This fun festival immediately follows the Northport Dog Parade. The wine festival will feature 11 Northern Wine Loop wineries/cideries along with local food vendors and live music!

Up to 200 vintage automobiles and hot rods will be the featured attraction on August 9th in Acme Township at Flint Fields Horse Park. This unique event will feature classic cars in an event reminiscent of a classic drive-in theater. A 90-minute Northern Michigan Classic Cruise around Torch Lake will kick-off the day’s festivities. Live musical guests will perform throughout the day ending with Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen. Classic drive-in style food and beverages will be available. General Admission doors open from 3-10pm. The classic cruise starts at 10 AM.
This is a family friendly event.

TC WATERMAN CHALLENGE AND EXPO

The TC Waterman SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) Challenge, the Midwest’s largest SUP event, returns for the 5th year to the Open Space and beautiful waters of Grand Traverse West Bay. This year the Challenge is being supported by Short's Brewing Company who will be bringing their amazing woody Boat and Ski Bar for a tap takeover on the Open Space pier. New this year will be the Short’s BEER-B-Q on the West Bay Pier featuring a South Carolina style BBQ paired with Hall’s Farm Sweet Corn, along with live music throughout the day headlined by the Laith Al Saudi Big Band. Whole hogs, shoulders, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, and brisket will be smoked and prepared for a delectable meal. A fun weekend for families, foodies, local craft beer and wine lovers.

The nation's largest paella festival, Paella in the Park, returns to the Open Space on Friday, August 15. Wines from the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula will be featured at the event, with pairings for each of the five mouth-watering paellas expertly prepared.

Live music under the big tent is always a highlight of Paella in the Park. After indulging in a delectable dinner, dance it off to the sounds of Grupo Aye, Rootstand, Ryan Montbleau and Younce Guitar Duo.
