Upcoming Construction

M-72 Road Construction Project

Summer construction has begun on M-72 between Turtle Creek Casino and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. This project includes construction of two roundabouts and a pedestrian tunnel near the new Meijer development. This work will require lane closures for much of the summer, although one lane open in each direction.

This project requires extensive reconstruction of the entrance to our Hilltop condominium complex as well as Lautner Road.  Access to Hilltop condominium driveways will be accommodated at all times but Lautner Road will be closed until further notice. Please note that delays traveling through this corridor may be experienced.

This project  is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

US-31 Construction project

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Team Elmer's will begin resurfacing US-31 from Holiday Road to Brackett Road on Sept. 8.

This work will involve grinding off the top layer of the existing pavement and paving a new layer over all lanes.

The project also includes some curb and gutter work, upgrading sidewalk ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and guardrail installation, which will be done prior to the repaving. Work on the 3.2-mile segment is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.

The work will require the closure of two, and sometimes three, lanes at a time, but one lane will be open in each direction at all times.

Because the work will proceed relatively quickly, the lane closures will shift frequently during the project. A view of the project area is available on the Mi Drive traffic website: http://bit.ly/1Llt77U .

MDOT and Team Elmer's reconstructed 1.5 miles of US-31 from Three Mile Road to Holiday Road beginning April 6 and finishing two weeks ahead of schedule on June 11. The total project investment is $10.4 million.
