86,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space provides ultimate flexibility in selecting the venue for your special day. Whether you envision a Midnight in Paris or a Moroccan Soiree, our wedding staff is practiced at bringing your vision to life.
While we can accommodate wedding parties as large as 500, intimate events for parties as small as five can be as beautifully orchestrated. And, in the case of inclement weather, all outdoor wedding events have alternative indoor function spaces reserved.
The Grand Lobby offers engaged couples an inviting preview of amenities and personalized services offered by Wedding Sales & Services Manager, Gwen Hamp, and her dedicated on-site team in "I Do—A Wedding Destination Showcase."
The Michigan Ballroom sits in close proximity to the Resort's main entrance and features more than 9,000 square-feet of function space. As a reception venue, Michigan Ballroom can accommodate up to 600 people. The prefunction space immediately outside of the Ballroom is ideal for a cocktail party and hors d'oeuvres.
The Tower Ballroom sits on the lower level of the Resort's main property and can accommodate up to 200 people seated at rounds. Similar to the Michigan Ballroom, the Tower Ballroom has a large pre-function area adjacent to the Ballroom itself.
For large weddings, Governors' Hall offers more than 20,000 square feet of barrier-free function space with 20-foot ceilings. The stately ballroom can also be divided into many combinations of smaller rooms. An impressive stairway leads guests to the pre-function area that is ideal for a cocktail hour. Governors' Hall can accommodate up to 2,250 people.
17th Floor Of Tower
Panoramic views of both water and forests await you from high atop our 17-story Tower. The 17th Floor is an excellent option for private rehearsal dinners or for those seeking a truly one-of-a-kind indoor wedding venue. The convenience and added ambiance of Aerie Restaurant & Lounge, is located steps away on the 16th floor.

The Mackinac Ballroom and Peninsula Ballroom sit on the lower level of the Resort’s main property across from the Tower Ballroom. Both of these spaces are an excellent choice for an intimate reception where you and your closest friends can celebrate your nuptials. Both ballrooms are also a very private location for saying “I Do” and with some help from our Event Design Manager can be transformed in to the perfect ceremony space. Each ballroom can accommodate up to 75 guests each for a reception and up to 180 guests each for a ceremony.
The Plaza, a semi-permanent tent structure, overlooks The Bear golf course and is an ideal reception venue. The tent is surrounded on all four sides by walls, protecting from rain or wind.
Serving as one of our most popular ceremony and reception sites, The Pavilion is conveniently located within the Resort's main property. The yellow hue of the canopy above provides a warm elegance. Uncovered cocktail areas provide the perfect prelude to your evening celebrations.
The Private Beach Club
Ideal for ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners, the private Beach Club deck stares out across sparkling East Grand Traverse Bay. The Beach Club is located just minutes from the Resort's main property. A complimentary shuttle service provides easy and accessible transportation for your guests. The Beach Club deck includes 4,500 square feet of function space.
At Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, we are home to 54 holes of championship golf. Our "55th Hole" is ideal for more intimate ceremonies or receptions. As a ceremony venue, your guests and wedding party are nestled in a wooded area for the utmost privacy.

The Garvey Family Barn
Host your unforgettable wedding at this unique venue: The Garvey Family Barn. The Barn was built in the late 1800s and was lovingly restored by the Garvey family. The Barn can accommodate up to 130 people for a sit-down dinner with additional tent or event space outside. The Resort's Barn experience offers a rental price that includes tables, chairs, table settings, standard table cloths, and transportation to the site.
