Making the Most of Off-Season Meetings

The weather outside may be frightful, but at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, winter meetings are delightful! From teambuilding activities in the snow to cozy foods and drinks, the Resort offers several unique ideas and amenities to help keep the winter blues away at your next conference.

Teambuilding Activities

The outdoors can still be fun in the wintertime! Bundle up and head outside for a snowshoeing adventure around the grounds or a friendly snowman building contest on Jazz Live Field by the golf Clubhouse.

Design Themes

Embrace the beauty of the season and create your own winter wonderland in your meeting space. Our awesome event design specialist can decorate with snowflakes, blue and silver décor, and more to keep the spirits high throughout a full day.

Volunteering Opportunities

Engage your meeting attendees with volunteer opportunities during your conference. Whether you’re giving back for the holidays or trying to make a difference during the cold months of January and February, your efforts can go a long way. There are a number of nonprofits and charitable organizations in the Grand Traverse Region to choose from so you can give back this season—check out a partial list here.

Cold-weather Swag

Brrr…it can get cold this time of year! Skip the standard swag and have some winter-themed giveaways available for your meeting attendees instead. Looking for a gift for a meeting planner or client? The Bear Logo Shop and Adventure North Outfitters (located inside the Resort’s Gallery of Shops) can supply you with the perfect attire, from fleece jackets to wool socks, and blankets to hats.

Seasonal Banquet Options

Who doesn’t love some hot cocoa when it’s chilly outside? Work with our banquets staff to give your conference goers to the perfect winter treat. Try a specialty winter cocktail for a happy hour or cozy soups to keep everyone warm and energized!

Seeking indoor or outdoor adventures with your group? Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy winter in Northern Michigan.

Cross Country Skiing

Head to the VASA Trail to get some fresh air and exercise! The VASA trail extends about 26 miles and stretches through the Pere Marquette State Forest, with treetops covered in snow and moderate hills ready for you to take on in your skis.

Tubing and Downhill Skiing

Hit the slopes at Mt. Holiday! Speed down the hill in a tube or downhill ski or snowboard to take your mind off meetings for a moment. Mt. Holiday offers great deals for groups, and the Resort offers a complimentary shuttle to get your crew to the fun fast.

Ice Wine Tasting

Wine is good at any time of the year…but winter wine takes the cake! Go ice wine tasting in between meetings at one of our many local wineries. Chateau Chantal turns frozen grapes into delicious wine at their Ice Wine Festival that you and your group won’t want to miss!
