Welcome to the 2019 Women Writers Weekend!
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa and Traverse City Tourism are thrilled to present the 2019 Women Writers Weekend October 17-19 in Traverse City, MI. With leaves ablaze in their autumn colors and fall harvests ready for sampling, there's no better place to find inspiration and relaxation than Northern Michigan.
The Women Writers Weekend brings together top travel writers and bloggers from across the country to experience the charm of Traverse City and the hospitality of the Resort. Speakers will be joining at meal times to talk about trends and best practices of the writing industry, and networking opportunities will abound throughout the weekend.

THURSDAY, October 17
1:30 p.m. Experience a tour of the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, a historic cultural center near the heart of downtown Traverse City. A shuttle from the Resort departs at 1:30 p.m., or you can drive separately and join us there!
4:00 p.m. Hotel check-in (early check-in available upon request)
5:30 p.m. Welcome reception

SATURDAY, October 19

10:15 a.m. Take a shuttle to downtown Traverse City for the ultimate Northern Michigan Scavenger Hunt. Find as many of the items below as you can and snap a photo. The winner will receive a prize!
- Savor a slice of Cherry Crumb pie from Grand Traverse Pie Company
- Snag an M-22 sticker at the M-22 store
- Dip your toes in Grand Traverse Bay
- Snap a photo of the State Theater marquee
- Visit the Boardman River bridges and/or river walk
- Play a game at the Coin Slot
- Pick out your favorite touristy T-shirt
- Peek inside the City Opera House
- Find a copy of 101 Things to Do in Traverse City in Horizon Books or Brilliant Books
- Sample some up north fudge at Kilwins Chocolates or Doug Murdick’s Fudge

Have you hosted this event before?
We have! 2018 was our first year, and we're excited to grow the program. We even won a Public Relations Society of America "PRoof" Award for the event last year!
What is the cost of the Women Writers Weekend?
All sponsored activities mentioned above will be complimentary, including lodging. We ask only that you provide your own travel to and from the event.
Are there requirements for media coverage?
Media coverage will be discussed on a case-by-case basis based on your platform or outlet. We encourage all attendees to post on social media about each of the activities you experience throughout the weekend. We're also happy to provide more information about Grand Traverse Resort and Spa or Traverse City, as well as to brainstorm unique story angles or experiences.
Can I arrive before Thursday or leave after Saturday?
Yes! We have a special media rate of $75 (plus tax and fees) for attendees who would like to extend their stay. Please contact Jillian Manning to schedule your visit.
Can I bring my family?
Your family is welcome to join you for your stay, though all activities are limited to WWW attendees. If you require additional rooms for family members, we will provide rooms at our best available rate.
