While your group may gather in any one of our designated meeting rooms or ballrooms, chances are their first meeting space will be in our registration area and Grand Lobby.
As the unofficial starting point for every meeting, your members, guests, board of directors, or family will undoubtedly choose the water feature area seating, Lobby Bar, or digital information kiosk as the gathering place - all comfortable areas to help set the tone for your event.
With the ability to reconfigure meeting rooms, our team can meet your most challenging sound, lighting, and presentation requirements. Meeting and event venues are located throughout the entire 900-acre property; however, most are within close proximity to one another. While the majority of standard ballrooms and meeting rooms are located within the main Resort, there are other unique and outdoor venues based on your group’s needs.
The Michigan Ballroom and adjacent pre-function space and Executive Boardroom are conveniently located just off the Grand Lobby.
This large conference room can easily be divided into smaller meeting rooms with separate entrances. The pre-function area works well for registration, small displays or for pre and post events, such as cocktail receptions or lunch buffets.
While the Resort has several classic boardrooms with seating for up to 20, we also offer a few unique settings for more informal camaraderie.
Our Northwoods Boardroom and Manitou Hospitality Room feature a wet bar, Wii® Game Console, flat screen TVs, and a pool table. Our private dining room, within the interior of Aerie Restaurant & Lounge, is a more intimate dining and meeting space for up to 10 people.
Also, at the peak of the Tower, you'll find a private meeting space for exclusive cocktail parties, after hours hospitality functions or executive committee breakfasts.
The largest venue for events at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is Governors' Hall on the lower level of the complex's north wing. This stately ballroom, with ceiling heights of 20 feet, can seat up to 2,250 people.
The venue can also be divided into a combination of smaller meeting rooms. An impressive stairway leads to a pre-function area that is ideal for a reception or cocktail party event. There are windows on the west wall of the hall (Governors' A and B) which showcase a view of the grounds and, through much of the year, a gorgeous sunset during dinner hours.
More intimate space for groups of 30-70 is located on the lower level of the Valleyview condominium complex. Its close proximity to the Hotel, just steps away from the complex, is ideal for private events.
The Valleyview Room can be partitioned into two distinct meeting or break rooms, along with a separate, East Bay room, and private boardroom that can accommodate up to 12.
Northern Michigan views and vistas paint a beautiful backdrop for outdoor events, and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa takes full advantage of nature's décor for outdoor barbecues, receptions, dinners, weddings, beach parties, and more.
The outdoor Pavilion, located just a short distance from the Grand Lobby, can play host to hundreds and is available year-round.
Other outdoor venues include the private Beach Club Deck on the shores of Lake Michigan, The Clubhouse Lawn, the 55th Hole which is nestled into a private, wooded area and The Plaza, a semi-permanent tent structure that's ideal for golf banquets and other outdoor events.
