What time is check-in? Can I get an early check-in?

Check-in begins at 4 p.m. We will try our best to accommodate any early check-in requests. Early check-ins are not guaranteed and are based off occupancy. Contact the Front Desk at 231-534-6000.

What time is check-out? Can I get a late check-out?       

Check-out is no later than 11 a.m. Please check with the Front Desk on your day of departure for late check-out. Contact the Front Desk at 231-534-6000.

Where can I check into my room?

All reservations for the hotel, Tower, and or condos can be checked in the front desk located in the Grand Lobby

How old do I have to be to book a room?       

You must be 21 years or older to book a room.

How late is the pool open?

How late are the shopping outlets open?

Do you have a shuttle to and from downtown?

Our Resort shuttles do not provide any transportation off property other than to and from the airport; however, there are several cab companies in the area along with LYFT & Uber. Click for shuttle details.

How often does the casino shuttle run? Do I need to get on a schedule?

Sun-Thurs, the Turtle Creek Casino shuttle is available 24 hours and on a on-call schedule. Friday-Saturday, starting at the 5:00 p.m., the shuttle departs every half hour at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour

Do the hotel rooms have refrigerators?

The rooms located in the Hotel wing do not have a fridge in the room. You can request a mini fridge for a fee of $25: availability is limited and is on a first come basis.

Do any of the rooms have microwaves?

There are no microwaves in any of our hotel or Tower rooms. If available one can be delivered to your room for $15/night.

Does Aerie Restaurant & Lounge have a dress code?

There is no enforced dress code, but resort casual is preferred.

Do you have day passes to your pool?

Our Health Club and pool are for registered guests and Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Members.

What does the Resort fee cover?

Use of the Health Club, seasonal access to outdoor pools and The Beach Club, preferred pricing for golf and tennis, wireless internet service for guest rooms and condominiums, voicemail message service, unlimited toll free and credit card access phone calls, use of Resort safety deposit box, parking, golf bag storage, and shuttle to Cherry Capital Airport and Turtle Creek Casino. Fees and services are subject to change.

Do you have a policy for short term rentals?

We do. On the Resort campus, there are privately owned condominiums and homes that participate with short term rental companies like Airbnb or VRBO. Visitors who book short-term rentals through a third party are prohibited from accessing Resort amenities or taking advantage of special guest rates. 

May I smoke on my patio? Where may I smoke?

All of our guest rooms and condominiums are smoke free, which includes any patio or balcony. Designated smoking areas are located 25 feet away from any building entrance.

I lost an item, how do I contact lost and found?

Lost and found is located in our housekeeping department, which can be reached 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sun-Sat.

How far are you from Traverse City?

Downtown Traverse City is located just 8.8 miles from the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa

Where is the closest airport? 

Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) is only 10 minutes from Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. If you need a pick up or transportation to the airport, arrangements need to be made in advance. Shuttles to the Resort from the airport shuttles leave every half hour on the hour. Call 231-534-6425 with transportation requests.

What is your cancellation policy?

A one-night Deposit is required at the time of booking and is refundable less a $25 fee if cancelled 72 hours prior to your arrival.  No shows are subject to one night penalty charge and loss of remainder of reservation.

Does the Resort offer wine tours?

The Resort only offers wine tours certain times of the year with room packages. Our Concierge can help set up tours with local companies.


Transportation options (VIA TRaverse City Tourism):

Ride Sharing:

Lyft & Uber: The national ride-sharing services are operated by smartphone app, offering on-demand transportation based on a sliding fee scale in and around Traverse City. Options include both four- and six-seat vehicles.

Cabs:

TC Taxi Cab: Traverse City Taxi Cab is a locally owned and operated transportation company providing service to the entire Traverse City region.  They provide custom personalized services including airport and wine tours.

Mass transit

BATA (Bay Area Transportation Authority) Bus: Service is offered Monday – Friday from 5 a.m. until midnight and 6 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. One-way fares range from $1.50 to $3.00 and reduced fares are available for students, seniors, and the disabled. The transit authority offers Loop service with dedicated routes and fixed stops throughout Traverse City and the surrounding villages, as well as Link service that functions as a traditional dial-a-ride.


Resort Mailing Address vs.  Resort Shipping Address – They Are Different!

Please be aware that the Resort’s mailing address is different than the Resort’s shipping address. Using the wrong address can lead to delays of shipments arriving at the Resort for guests and groups. Here are the correct addresses to use.

HydraFacial delivers results on first treatment

When Spa Grand Traverse cosmetologist Sandra Umstead received her first HydraFacial, the results were so amazing that she knew it was something she wanted her clients to experience as well.  
HydraFacial is a patented technology that marries a deeply cleansing facial treatment with relaxation.
“After just one visit, this medical-grade procedure leaves the skin with improved clarity, texture, and tone,” Umstead says.
I admit I needed convincing that it could be that good when I arrived at the spa for my first HydraFacial. Truth be told, I’d rather spend my money on a new pair of shoes than skin care, and I didn’t think she would be able to do that much with my neglected, sun-damaged, slightly saggy, middle-aged skin.
Was I ever wrong.

Instant Results
A HydraFacial is a three-part treatment that begins with cleansing that removes dead skin cells and excess oil from the skin. Next, salicylic and glycolic acids are applied to break up any dirt and oil that's clogging pores. Then the HydraPeel Tip is used to painlessly suction out blackheads, dirt, oil, and impurities, while hydrating, plumping, and nourishing serums are simultaneously applied to the skin.
“No more manual extractions that may leave the skin blotchy and inflamed,” Umstead says. “The powerful serums break it all down, allowing the vacuum to pull it all up.”  
The best part is that after just one HydraFacial, you will see immediate results. I certainly did.
“This treatment satisfies our need for instant gratification, so clients can’t wait for the next treatment,” Umstead says.
Corrine Olson is one of those clients.
“My favorite facial at the spa is the HydraFacial,” she says. “It’s the first time I can say that I noticed results.”
Each treatment starts with before and after photos.
“We have the ability to compare them side by side after your treatment,” Umstead explains. “This allows us to better track your progress every time you come in.”
For many clients, seeing those results is motivation not just to come back, but also to continue better skin-care regimens at home.
Umstead pulled up my pictures, and, to my surprise, I had fewer lines on my face and my skin was truly hydrated — literally glowing, in fact.

Part of a Skin-Care Routine
Since Umstead has consistently treated herself to HydraFacials, she no longer needs to wear makeup. Her skin did look flawless.
For long-term benefits and correction purposes, Umstead recommends treatments every six weeks. For maintenance, she suggests having one each season.
“This treatment is fairly active, and I like to think of it as waking up the skin,” she says.
“It’s invigorating and satisfying in many ways, which keeps clients coming back for more.”
When a friend commented on how nice my skin looked the day after my HydraFacial, I had to agree.
