Michigan's premier equestrian event
This spring and summer, discover the Traverse City Horse Shows at Flintfields Horse Park, just three miles from Grand Traverse Resort and Spa via complimentary shuttle.
Now in its sixth year, the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival has been a staple in Traverse City since 2015, when it took the place of Horse Shows by the Bay, which ran from 2007 to 2014. The 2020 season includes six weeks of exciting equestrian competition from July 1 to August 9, and visitors and locals alike will gather to watch the incredible, internationally renowned festival live in Northern Michigan.
Two other special events take place this year. Traverse City Spring Horse Shows (June 9–21) is presented by our sister property, Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, and the North American Youth Championship for Jumping and Dressage (August 4–9) is proudly sponsored by Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
The horse shows are home to jumpers, hunters, and equitation with riders from around the country competing for prestige and prize money. Some of the world’s top equestrian athletes, including many Olympians, will be competing. Athletes and horses travel to Northern Michigan from multiple continents, countries, and states around the globe.
Planning your visit? Wednesday through Saturday, admission to Flintfields Horse Park is free. Sundays host the exciting grand prix events with the top athletes competing. Sundays only, tickets are just $15 for adults, $10 for military and seniors, and free for kids 12 and under. You can purchase tickets at the Resort concierge or online.
