The Golf Academy is our year-round, 2,000-square-foot facility featuring three heated, indoor-outdoor hitting bays equipped with mirrors and motion-capture technology for swing analysis. During the winter months, the Academy serves as our Winter Golf Center, offering lessons, clinics, practice sessions, and play on our golf simulator. We are pleased to present three outstanding options for golf instruction at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa: the new Adam Schriber Tour Prep Golf, the Dave Pelz Scoring Game School, and the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa PGA professionals.

Dave Pelz Scoring Game School
The Dave Pelz Scoring Game School returns to our Golf Academy in 2019! The Dave Pelz Scoring Game School applies a practical, scientific approach to golf instruction, honed through years of research and providing golf lessons to many of the game’s top professionals.
Pelz Golf Institute research has proven that golfers lose almost 80 percent of their shots to par inside of 100 yards from the hole. To that end, their school curriculum focuses strictly on what Dave Pelz defines as “The Scoring Game,” a combination of the short game (distance wedges, pitching, chipping, sand play) and putting, which comprise 60 to 65 percent of the total number of shots played per round. From three-foot putts to full wedge and long bunker shots, at this truly unique golf school you’ll learn to properly execute shots from any scoring position. Pelz’s staff instructors are highly-trained teaching professionals, and the low student/teacher ratio allows instructors to concentrate solely on their students and students on their instruction in the short game.
3-Day Scoring Game School
2019 Dates: June 28-30, July 5-7, July 11-13, July 25-27, August 2-3, August 8-10, September 13-15, September 20-22, and September 26-28
This is the premier golf instruction program offered by Pelz Golf and includes three full days of putting, chipping, pitching, wedge and sand play instruction. It is designed to help golfers improve skills that affect their scores. 4-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio
2-Day Short Game School
2019 Dates: July 19-20,
The 2-Day Short Game School focuses on the wedge (no putting instruction). Learn the mechanics of solid, short game shots plus essential skills from 100 yards and in. 4-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio.
1-Day Scoring Game Clinic
2019 Dates: June 26, July 2, 9, 17, 18, 23, 30, 31, August 6, 14, 15, 16, 17, September 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 17, 25
The 1-Day Scoring Game Clinic includes six hours on the basics of the short game and putting. You'll leave understanding the key shots you need to begin in your path to better scoring. It is taught by the same Pelz instructors who teach the 3-Day and 2-Day golf schools. 6-to-1 Student-to-teacher ratio
